My (future) couch is EVERYWHERE!

You know how when you get an idea in your head, you start seeing it EVERYWHERE? Like when you buy a new car, you suddenly see more of the same model on the road.. or when you want to get married or have a baby, suddenly everyone around you is getting married or having babies? WELL, I'm having that same phenomenon with the couch I want (and posted about last week)! It is everywhere!

My friend Kelly got it recently - this is me holding her sweet little baby Jack!

I think it is going to be a rule for me when buying furniture that I must love every piece this much! It makes it so much fun :)

VRBO - Amazing House for Rent!

We've gotten SIX inches of snow today and it is freeeeezing cold! Given the fact I despise driving in snow, I decided to work from home today. I am currently sitting in front of the fire AND I have a space heater blowing on me, but I still can't get warm! Winter is overrated.

Anyway, I randomly started searching Google for images of soapstone counters when I stumbled upon this AMAZING vacation rental by owner (VRBO) house! I love it, and therefore thought I'd share!

Click HERE for more pictures of this amazing house!

Only $3,500 a week ;) *sigh*

New, Comfy, & Cute

I would describe my style as casual, classic, comfortable, and cute :) I don't buy a LOT of clothes and accessories, but when I do I make sure I buy quality items that I just LOVE.

Here are some of my favorite pieces right now:

Madewell Striped Sweatshirt Tee (here)
Tory Burch Small Perforated Logo Tote (here)
Tory Burch Verity Ballet Flat (here)
Lululemon Daily Yoga Jacket (here)
Tory Burch Tumbled Leather Thora Sandal (here)

This will be mine in 2013!

I've loved the Lancaster Leather Sofa from Restoration Hardware for a lonnggg time! I've decided that I'm going to save $125 per paycheck to put towards purchasing it this year :)

(It's super expensive, but it usually goes on sale a few times a year!)

A little bit of spring...

It reached almost 70-degrees here this weekend.. A bit early, but I definitely loved it :)

It inspired me to bring some touches of spring into my kitchen in the form of a new lemon candle, lemon soaps, yellow striped dishtowels, and some tulips.

Kitchen Countertops - Decisions, Decisions!

SO, one of the last things we have to do in the kitchen is to select the countertops.. Exciting, but stressful! I'm dragging my feet.

You see, when I originally started designing this kitchen, I envisioned marble countertops.. They are my FAVORITE by far! However, my husband and my dad have been adamantly trying to talk me out of them ever since! We went to a stone yard together, and the sales lady told us they make you sign a waiver if you get marble countertops. A WAIVER! And she went on to tell us about several people who got the marble counters who came back crying a month or a year later upset about a spill or stain that tarnished them forever! (I wonder how much money my dad snuck to her under the table to scare the crap out of me - because she did!) So I don't know what to do anymore...

Here are pictures of the slabs I liked the most, along with the corresponding quote:

48.5 sq. ft. of Carrara Marble Countertops: $2,885

However, I was also drawn to this steel gray granite... It's very pretty, but I worry it might be too dark? I think if I would have had this in my original vision, perhaps I would have made different choices in terms of the backsplash and hardware... hmm..

48.5 sq. ft. of Steel Gray Granite: $2,300

There was also this Alpine White Granite (It also goes by "Donna Sandra" which was pretty... but the sales lady said it was also more porous and prone to stains.. and this was by far the most expensive:

48.5 sq. ft. of Alpine White Granite Countertops: $3,150

Do you still love the marble the most??? I do..... but I don't know if I can bring myself to invest that much money in something so prone to damage! (We are pretty hard on things...)

Thoughts?

Girls, Girls, Girls! (Baby Girls, that is!)

Awhile ago I posted a mood board for a baby boy nursery (here), since SO many of my friends have baby boys on the way!

BUT, I don't want to leave out the girls! SO, I pulled together a mood board for a baby girl nursery too. Very neutral, with hints of violet. I love that it is feminine, calming, and super cozy :)

Once again, I picked all of these from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child.

Hello 2013!

2012 definitely had some ups and downs (the down being that I was sick for so long), but it ended on a great note! We made so much progress on the house, and it is really starting to feel like OUR home :)  Given how hard we've worked, my new year's resolution is to focus on my blessings, take time to enjoy what we've accomplished, appreciate what we have, and simply enjoy life! I'm excited to see what the year brings :)
