Cozy weekend

Look at what we got up and running this weekend! :)
Just in time for a big snowstorm on Saturday... I pretty much spent the whole day in front of the fire with my book :)

Made for a wonderful, cozy weekend!

Remember me? And a pretty house tour!

Hello long lost friends! It's been awhile, hasn't it? Guess I've just been distracted w/living life, working, spending time with family and friends! :) Even though my list of house projects is long, we've been super busy (or busy relaxing!) the last several weeks, so I haven't had any updates to share.. But soon... hopefully :)

In the meantime, I was going through my computer and found pictures of this house I LOVE. I took these a year and a half ago at our communities Parade of Homes. It is one of my favorites ever!

Ahh, I love it :)

Hope you are all doing well!

Kitchen Finishes

Below are my favorite sources of inspiration for the finishes in our kitchen.. I love dark floors, white cabinets, marble, white subway tile, farmhouse sinks, gas ranges, schoolhouse lighting fixtures, stainless steel finishes, cup pulls on the drawers... So classic, clean, and beautiful!

3D Rendering of the Kitchen Renovation!!!

SO, yesterday I shared with you the akward kitchen layout, and today I'm sharing with you my solution :) As I stated yesterday, we plan to completely eliminate the wall between the kitchen and eating area, and then widen the opening from the kitchen to the dining room.

The AMAZING result:

This rendering is pretty basic, but you get the idea!

Another huge piece of it is moving the fridge from the old kitchen area to the old eating area. It is weird, but the eating area has an extra foot of depth. By moving the fridge over a few feet and backing it into this alcove, we'll have a lot more room to walk around the island. Not to mention, the fridge won't look so weird sticking out in the middle of the room!

Big improvement, wouldn't you say?

My Weird Kitchen Configuration

The layout of our kitchen is totally choppy, and I totally dislike it! Our dining room leads to a small eating room with a bar area, which then leads to a galley style kitchen.  I tried to take pictures from multiple angles so you can see the layout firsthand.

The GOOD thing, of course, is that we plan to remove the wall between the kitchen and eating area, and widen the opening between the eating area and the dining room. This project is at least a year away, but it is going to make a HUGE difference in the house!  I've been super excited about this project from the second we moved into the house.  Even though its super annoying as is and we knew we'd have to live with it this way for a couple of years, we couldn't help but see that it has a ton of potential! We are packing away and saving $$$ little by little so we can do it exactly the way we want it when the time is right.

This weekend, I made a 3D rendering of what it will look like post renovation, which I will share with you tomorrow :) In the meantime, see the kitchen in its current form below:

Also, since we knew we'd be living with it for awhile, we did give it quite the mini-makeover already. We painted the cabinets white and the walls grey, so even if we didn't love the layout at the least the feel of it feels a lot more like us :) We also put new hardware on the doors and drawers and got a new fridge and dishwasher!

Another Upcoming Project: 3rd Floor Bath

My third floor has a TON of potential. The bathtub is heavenly! The wall color and the floors... ehh, not so much!

This project is next in line after the master bath and my mini-closet redo. I'm not exactly sure how I want to decorate it, but I do know I'll do/get the following:

- Repaint the walls
- Get the bathtub resurfaced
- New tile floors
- New toilet
- New vanity
- New window treatments
- Add storage for towels/bath stuff (there is actually a TON of space between the toilet and tub and the near wall, great place for a set of shelves or a cabinet)

I need a design that is will serve well for a guest bath for like the next 4 years, and then well as a kids bathroom after that. Here are my favorite sources of inspiration. I love that they are sophisticated with a pop of color!

(love this floor!)

(I love the dual shower curtains!)
